The annual book exhibition began in 1983 and is organized by Sharjah Government's Department of Culture and Information. The event takes place at the Expo Centre Sharjah and was previously known as the 'Sharjah International Book Fair'.

This year will be the 20th Sharjah World Book Fair and will be open between the 6th and 15th of December 2003. This major book fair brings together worldwide publishers and booksellers from 37 participating countries, who display their products to both public buyers and possible traders. Book prices at the exhibition are available at discounted prices. The book fair is the largest book exhibition that takes place in the UAE (United Arab Emirates).
